Swansea has a great reputation as a city for students and there is something for everyone to see and to do. The people are renowned for their friendliness, there are plenty of shops and a great nightlife. Swansea Bay is beautiful while the nearby Gower is one of the hidden secrets of the UK. The beaches are as good as anywhere in the UK. If you prefer to go inland, you will find the stunning scenery of the Welsh valley, hills and mountains. Road and rail links to the rest of the country are good.

If you love sport, the Swansea City play in the Premiership. The football club shares the stadium with the Ospreys, so you can see Heineken cup and Welsh league Rugby action as well.

Swansea has changed a great deal over the past few years. The development of SA1 into a mix of business, residential and commercial development is almost complete and the new Boulevard promises to enhance the entry into the city even more.

There are many attractions such as the cutting edge leisure centre (LC2) located in the heart of the city centre, the Transport Museum of Wales and the Welsh International swimming pool.

Nearby Wind Street provides a host of popular pubs and clubs, restaurants and entertainment venues including a 12 screen state-of-the-art multiplex cinema and multi-million pound casino.

For those of you who like to explore a little wider afield, the area boasts resorts, parks, caves and castles. The Gower Peninsula boasts some of the most beautiful bays and beaches in the UK, with wide clear sands, coves half-hidden under steep cliffs and thick woods and some excellent surfing and sailing. It was the first area in Britain to be awarded the title of 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' by the Government in 1956.

If you prefer different kind of nightlife, the nearby Mumbles village is famous for its range of restaurants, pubs and local shopping and it is a famous haunt of Swansea students.
